Integrating your WhatsApp Business account with your WideBot chatbot allows you to enhance customer communication and manage interactions efficiently. Follow these steps to connect your WhatsApp channel to your chatbot.
Requirements before Starting
Before you begin, ensure you meet these prerequisites:
- Have admin access to your Business Manager — check here.
- Ensure you can receive an SMS or voice call on the number you intend to connect with WideBot.
- If the phone number is active on one of the WhatsApp apps, you'll need to delete it from the app. To do so, please follow steps 3-5 of this process.
Note: to add a number already associated with a WhatsApp account, you'll first need to delete your existing personal or business account before proceeding. Here are Meta requirements and how to proceed.
Step-by-Step Connection Guide
- Login into your WideBot account. Navigate to the settings section of the bot you want to connect with WhatsApp.
- Under the settings menu, find and select the "Channel" option. In the list of available channels, click on "WhatsApp".
- You will see a checkbox indicating that you understand the requirements for connecting WhatsApp to your bot. Check this box to proceed.
- Click the "+Continue with Facebook" button. This will redirect you to the Facebook login page.
- Login into your Facebook account.
Please, remember that the Facebook account you will log in to must be the one that has Admin access to Facebook Business Manager.
- Click on "Get started" to connect your WhatsApp business account to WideBot and give us the necessary permissions.
Business Selection
- Create or Select a Business Portfolio by clicking on the dropdown menu.
If you don't have a business portfolio, create one. If you have an existing portfolio, select it.
If you have a business portfolio, your business information will automatically appear.
- Fill the following screen with the business information.
This step will only be necessary if you are creating a new Facebook Business Manager Account.
WABA and Profile Selection
- When you reach the WABA and Profile Selection screen, you have three options:

- Create both a new WABA and profile
- Select an existing WABA and create a new profile
- Select an existing WABA and profile

1. Creating a New WABA and Profile
If you choose to create a new WABA and profile:
- Fill out all the required information for your WABA and profile on a single page.
- Note that the website field is optional and defaults to your business’s website.
2. Selecting an Existing WABA and Creating a New Profile
If you select an existing WABA:
- You will be able to edit the phone profile field only.
- Enter the required phone number information as prompted.
We recommend using the same "Display Name" as the branding on your website. You can check the Display name guidelines here.
3. Selecting an Existing WABA and Profile
If you select an existing WABA and profile:
- The existing profile will be displayed but not editable.
- To make any changes, you must edit the profile in the WhatsApp Manager.
- Proceed to verify the number and select your preferred verification method.
- Add a New or Existing Phone Number
If you create a new profile, you will be prompted to add a phone number for your WhatsApp Business account. You have two options:

Use a new number or an existing one:
- Enter the phone number you want to use.

Get a free WhatsApp number:
- WhatsApp will generate a +1 555 number to use exclusively for sending messages. This number cannot be used to start or receive calls or texts. No verification is required. For more information, click here.
Once done, click "Next".
- You will receive a verification code on the provided phone number. Enter the code to verify the number.
Make sure your phone number can receive international SMS or phone calls.
Permission Acknowledgement
- Click the "Save" button to acknowledge the permissions and complete Embedded Signup.
Your WhatsApp account is ready
Now that your account is ready, there is something you need to know before you start any conversation:
WhatsApp has different messaging tier limits:
- Unverified business manager accounts: 250 business initiated conversations per 24 hours
- Verified business manager accounts: 1000 business initiated conversations per 24 hours

- The last step: Complete the Connection
Click the "Connect" button to finalize the connection to your chatbot.
